Yu Sing
Overview
|
Rating: The broken chopstick Yu Sing was actually the second restaurant we dined at after excitedly starting our restaurant reviewing tour and it almost put and end to the whole process. We had been discussing different rating methods and we decided that we would have to introduce a new award, the not so highly coveted "broken chopstick" to cover restaurants of this calibre. Whilst the food was particularly ordinary, we did only try the buffet, they may redeem themselves on their other prepared dishes. |

Food
My maths teacher in high school used to have a saying:
It's a bit like a chinese meal...good at the time, but later, ehhhhh...
This phrase held very true for Yu Sing, except there was no happy pause between the good and the ehhhh. We went the buffet, it had obviously been sitting for quite some time and was mighty soggy. We also experienced a new variety of spring roll, we still do not know what was in them, kind of a mushy fish paste, probably coming under the "acquired taste" heading.
Service
It was an amazing experience. We were greated at the door by a bloke sitting behind the counter, and then pretty much left alone. The highlight had to be going to the tea and coffee bar and having him hand us a bottle of UHT milk from the fridge.
Atmosphere
A restaurant so empty you could hear the crickets. Whilst we were there only two couples were in the restaurant. We also drove past several times and it was mostly empty then.
